Spot-market trading slows as agents focus on contracts and shipments
Cepea, September 16, 2026 – The pace of cotton trading weakened in mid-September, as players were focused on fulfilling term contracts and shipments, while interest in new trades in the spot market was low. The decline in the first contracts traded at ICE Futures also discouraged transactions. In addition, disagreements between purchasers and sellers over prices and/or the quality of the batches limited deals, which occurred only occasionally
